Merry Christmas
and Happy Holidays!

Best wishes for
a wonderful 2014!

Peter, Charlotte,
Zachary & Jackie

At ages 10 & 15 they still spend tons of
time together. What are the odds of that?
This year we celebrated our
20th wedding anniversary.

Zack is in 10th grade and is taking his first AP course this year. He got his "temps" in September – yes he's out on the road - watch out!!! He finished 9th grade with the honor of being named as one of the top 25 in his class of over 675 students.

Zack is still into Rubik's Cubes. He participated in another competition this year and has an official fastest time as 18 seconds, but has continue to hone his skills and has since solved it several times in only 12 seconds. In order to step up the challenge, he has learned how to solve it one handed, then blind folded and finally underwater.

First day of 10th grade. One-handing solving at the Rubik's Cube competition. Grass surfing?

Jackie is in 5th grade. She is doing well and was accepted into the advanced math class. Her latest interests include rainbow loom bracelets, duct tape projects, and playing Minecraft with Zack.

This year Jackie ran a 5K with mom and dad in both March & July. Jackie then participated in the Girls on the Run program in our school and really enjoyed it – running 2 more 5Ks this fall.

She keeps herself busy playing with her good friends Katey and Abby, and of course spending time with our cat, Zoey.

We are happy to announce that Peter has made it through 2013, concussion-free! Unfortunately our furnace tried to kill him by filling the house with carbon monoxide one morning while the rest of us were at school. Thankfully we have carbon monoxide detectors so he came through it OK, but if you don't have any, please make sure you get some!

Peter is becoming more and more interested in watching what we eat. We have heard over and over about cancer-causing food dye, too much sodium and high fructose corn syrup. Given that Peter has managed to keep off all the weight he lost last year, maybe we should listen to him? It doesn't hurt that he still exercises 7 days a week, too!

You didn't tell me you were going to kill it. Is that a Queen puppet? At the Reds game

A wonderful opportunity presented itself for me to be involved in a "Girls on the Run" program at my school. For those of you who know me well, being referred to as "Coach Elia" is just flat-out laughable; however, I tried my best and had a blast with our team. Jackie was able to participate in the program as well, so we enjoyed doing it together.

This year I get to teach math for most of the day, which makes me very happy. I'm working with 4 grade levels which presents a challenge, but I love it. I have a few kids this year with behavior issues, which is new for me, and keeps me on my toes most days.

Back in the 2011 Chronicles, we mentioned that we were getting our finances in order after learning about this "crazy" financial guy named Dave Ramsey who claimed it was possible to live without debt. We are delighted to say that after a two and a half year journey, we had the thrill of trekking down to Nashville to meet Dave Ramsey and be on his radio show! Although it seemed impossible when we first started his program, we worked really hard to be able to scream...
"WE'RE DEBT FREE!!!!!!"

Zack continues to play in various bands, both in and out of school, like marching band, symphonic band, pep band, the Cincinnati Youth Jazz Orchestra and honor bands. He bought a special trigger trombone this year. Now he has 3 trombones – who needs that many? Zack has always wanted private trombone lessons, which he started this year. Our friend Kyle moved here from New York and not only teaches trombone to Zack, but also piano to Zack, Jackie and Peter. For those of you keeping track, we now have THREE friends who have moved from New York to Ohio. Which one of you will be next?!?!?

Here are pictures from some of the races Jackie has run this year. Don't let her sweet face fool you - she will break loose with a burst of speed at the end of every race and beat you to the finish line. You may notice Zack's absence in these pictures. We have not yet been able to get him to participate - he usually gets out of it based on some band activity. There's always next year!!!!

Fun times on our trips back to the East Coast - Visiting Carlo's Bakery ("Hoboken, baby!"), at the Museum of Natural History in NYC, and swimming with Uncle Jim.

Peter always gets us out doing things... rockets and fishing and frisbee... oh my!

Well, that's the latest with us. What's new with you? Drop us an e-mail at [email protected] - we'd love to hear from you! Or better yet, let us know if you're ever out our way - we love visitors - and you could be featured in next year's newsletter!

Best wishes for a wonderful, happy & healthy 2014!

Love,
Peter, Charlotte, Zachary & Jackie

P.S. Forgive the tackiness but since we have officially decided we will not be spending eternity resting in peace on Long island, we have 2 cemetery plots in beautiful Pinelawn Cemetery that we are trying to sell. Given that we bought them 10+ years ago, they are a GREAT deal compared to today's prices. If you know anyone who would be interested in them, please let me know! Thanks!
